ABOUTolé

Cyprus wasn't part of our plans.

Before moving to the island, Cyprus was little more than a dot on the map to us.

We didn't know what its cities were like, how long it took to get around or how much there was to discover between its beaches and mountains.

HOW IT BEGAN

It all began after we arrived.

After living here, exploring the island and showing it to friends and family, we began to realise something:

many people in Spain had exactly the same picture of Cyprus as we had once had.

Hardly any picture at all.

They knew it was an island, that it was in the Mediterranean, and little else.

And every time someone came to visit, we would explain the same things again: which area to choose, how long it takes to get from one place to another, where it is worth stopping, or why two places that look close on the map can offer completely different trips.

That was the beginning of olé.

To bring Cyprus a little closer.

olé was created to show the island in a visual, approachable way that is easy to understand.

We don't want to turn Cyprus into an endless list of places.

We'd rather help you understand what each area offers, what might suit you and what is worth exploring for the trip you have in mind.

There is plenty to see, but you don't need to see it all.

How we see Cyprus.

Everyday life in Cyprus

01

We live here.

We live in Cyprus, explore it, ask questions, return to familiar places and keep discovering new ones.

There are places we know very well and others we have yet to visit.

Recommendations change, places open, others close, and sometimes we discover something to do simply because someone said:

“you have to go”.

And that is part of olé.

02

We choose carefully.

Not everything needs to be in a guide.

We'd rather share fewer things that make sense than try to include every beach, every village and every place on the island.

And this website isn't finished either.

It probably never will be.

We keep discovering villages, trying places, exploring walks and learning new things.

When we find something we think belongs here, we add it.

And if our opinion changes, the website changes too.

03

We share what we wish we had known.

Not just where to go.

Also when it makes most sense to go, which area to choose for your kind of trip, what changes outside the main season, and the little things you only begin to understand after living here for a while.

Because sometimes knowing that an area changes completely in winter can be as useful as knowing which place to visit.

The coast of Cyprus

oléwill grow as we keep discovering the island.

Some things we have known for years.
Others we are still discovering.

Discovering an island also means learning how to see it.

We're still learning.
